Healthy Kids kicked off the summer field trip season with a wonderful visit to the Waldoboro Fire Department, hosted by Chief Smeltzer and some of his volunteer firefighters.

The children were each treated to fire hats, an opportunity to try on firefighting gear, a ride on a fire truck and a take home, fun bag. They learned how to fold a canvas cover and roll up a hose.

One of the most fun items was a wearable metal water tank that the kids all got to squirt and some even got wet.

The next field trip is scheduled for Wednesday, July 8, at the Darling Marine Center on Clarks Cove Road in Walpole off Route 129.
