A vision and innovation leads to success

Danielle Feltis of Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice is the third recipient of the John A. Bowers Innovation Award for her vision for a software solution and the key role she played to guide MaineHealth EPIC analysts to design a new module for the private care division.

LincolnHealth was already using EPIC (an electronic health record system) but the software did not support private care, one of Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospices’ key services. Rather than purchase additional software, Feltis was confident that a private care module could be created, although others were doubtful.

Feltis worked side by side with MaineHealth EPIC system analysts to design and develop the home care module.

“The excellent product that derived from this collaboration has resulted in a tool that seamlessly adds private care to our continuum of care and greatly simplifies many of our processes” stated Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice Executive Director Kathy Bean, RN. “Our clinicians can now see everything they need to in one system, which ultimately improves patient safety.”

Not only will this help Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice, but all of the Home Care agencies throughout the MaineHealth system.

The John A. Bowers Innovation Award was created to honor and recognize LincolnHealth employees, medical staff, and volunteers whose creative leadership, and hard work significantly improved the quality, accessibility, and/or affordability of health care in our region. The award may be given at any time, and award winners are chosen by the LincolnHealth Board of Trustees.
