Trip to Chinatown in Boston Dec. 5

Wed, 10/07/2015 - 2:15pm

Looking for a great way to spend a Saturday? Join Central Lincoln County Adult Education on a day trip to Boston’s Chinatown and the Museum of Fine Arts from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Cooking instructor Chris Toy will be leading participants for a day of food, art and shopping.

Start the day in Quincy with a visit to Kam Man Marketplace, the largest indoor Asian market in New England with over 40 food and specialty shops. Afterwards stroll around Chinatown and choose from dozens of authentic restaurants.

Or make it simple and follow Chris to China Pearl for some authentic family style Chinese Dim Sum. Chris and his family have dined there for over 50 years. The grand finale of the day is a stop at the Museum of Fine Arts, where an expert docent will give a private tour and talk about some of the artifacts in the Asian Collection. There will be time afterwards to explore the museum independently.

Make sure to check out the "Class Distinctions: Dutch Painting in the age of Rembrandt and Vermeer" exhibit. On the way home there will be a stop in Kittery for dinner. So come and bring your cameras, appetites, and shopping lists!

The cost of the trip is $100 and includes transportation in the comfort of a chartered coach bus equipped with Wi-Fi technology and a lavatory, trip guide Chris Toy, and admission to the Museum of Fine Arts with private tour and talk. Meals are not included in the cost of the trip. There will be convenient pickups in: Waldoboro, Damariscotta, Edgecomb, Wiscasset and Bath. Sorry, due to travel commitments, no refunds after Nov. 2.
