Trevett Column: Upcoming potluck and yard sale

Tue, 06/12/2018 - 10:30am

Irena, along with her assistants Robin, Robert, Nancy and Graham, is taking care of our June 20 potluck. As usual, we will assemble at the BICA hall at 6 p.m. Folks are asked to bring an appetizer, main or side dish or a dessert to share. Coffee and water will be available or you can bring your own beverage.

Attendees are also requested to bring with them a “wonderful” item that can be donated to the upcoming yard sale. It is rumored that the Barters Island Antique and Road Show judges will be there to appraise your item.

Katie, as executive director, spoke at our May potluck about how the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council tries to take someone from crisis to self-success — give them a hand-up not a handout. It was interesting to learn that they have 112 volunteers and that they served 562 community members in 2017. BRCRC is a valuable community resource through which BICA receives referrals of our neighbors who might need some assistance.

Don’t forget the June 30 yard sale. Please remember that we do not take clothing or oversized items. There will be no plant sale this year. We will start accepting donations at the hall on Friday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. Call Louise (350-4032) if you have items to donate now or if you have any questions.
