Trevett Column: BICA’s holiday workshop and tea Dec. 10

Mon, 12/04/2017 - 8:30am

Dec. 10 is fast approaching so mark your calendar for the Barters Island Community Association’s holiday workshop and tea. This is always a fun event so be at the BICA hall on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.

There will be a Christmas workshop with a cookie swap and gift wrapping of presents for the island children. Kathleen will be organizing the workshop and is asking participants to bring a container that they would like to fill with greens. They should also bring any embellishments that would be good additions to their arrangement. Oasis and greens will be provided. If participants are able to bring clippers, it would be appreciated.

Kindly bring unwrapped items for the children. Small gift cards make good gifts and donations of large gift bags would be appreciated as well.

There will also be a delicious tea with yummy sweets. Donations of goodies for the tea are welcome. The more the merrier so bring a friend, neighbor, or relative. If you are not able to make the workshop, you may drop off presents with either Evelyn or Judy.

Another date for the calendar is Dec. 20 for the traditional holiday dinner. This is hosted by the BICA officers and trustees. They will be doing most of the cooking so appetizers and desserts are all that are needed. Plan on coming and enjoying the evening. This will be the last event at the hall until next April.

The November potluck was a great evening. Joan and Lorraine had the hall decorated with festive fall items and Joan used her collection of pewter teapots to adorn the tables. A sizable collection was received for the food pantry so many thanks to all who contributed. Paul and Louise had an old fashioned Bingo game. The game was great fun especially with the addition of the Bingo chorus lead by Gloria. Lucky winners were Frank, Maryanne, Brenda, Alice and Joe.
