Trail talk with Barrie Brusila August 24

Barrie Brusila, well-known local forester, will give a talk on "Tree Identification and Woodlot Management." The talk will take place on the trails at the Pownalborough Court House on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. Come and learn and ask questions.

Barrie and her husband, Mitch Kihn, are licensed foresters, operating Mid-Maine Forestry, a consulting business, from their home. In earlier years Barrie worked for the U.S. Forest Service. She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in forestry from the University of Maine, Orono. She is a past-president of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine and past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Forest Guild, a national professional forestry organization.

Barrie has provided educational programs to numerous organizations, including the Maine Farmers and Gardner’s Association and Hidden Valley Nature Center. Mid-Maine Forestry has worked with organizations and individuals to develop prize-winning woodlots.
