Tired of Trump

    Dear Editor:

Are you as tired as I am of listening to Mr. Trump’s bombastic statements? What I find most offensive is that he’s going to “Make America great again.” So America is no longer great? So it needs Mr. Trump to fix it?

I beg your pardon. America is great, was great and will continue to be great with no help from him. Sure we have problems. We’re not perfect. No country is. All, from the president to the least of us, should be working on that.

Trump has a laundry list of things he’s going to fix, but other than a wall — which he says Mexico is going to pay for — he has no solution, and if he has any plans, I haven’t heard them.

Don’t forget, the German people once fell under the spell of a loud-talking demigod who promised them all things. We know how that one ended. Do we want to go down that road? Not to overstate — Hitler was evil. Fortunately, neither Trump nor any of the other presidential hopefuls rise to that standard. However, it bother me that he is playing on the same emotions, on people’s fears, hates, prejudices and, sadly, their patriotism. We all want our country to be great and better, but I doubt making him president will accomplish this.

Do we want a president who scapegoats certain ethnic and religious groups and regularly insults any who oppose him?

I watch C-SPAN and am surprised at how many support him. We still have a year to go and I hope people come to their senses.
