Letter to the Editor

Time is marching on

Dear Editor:

Kudos to Joe Gelarden for his column re: Change in our lives.

He reviewed the rapid changes envisioned, and funded by, one of our current citizens, Paul Coulombe, who has disarranged large areas of the natural world lodged in our mind's eyes' long-held views for a world class country club, golf course, and new restaurant with one of our many highly prized ocean views.

Elsewhere in the same issue (of the Boothbay Register), is a picture of Tim Hodgdon, Cathy Hodgdon and Audrey Hodgdon accepting the Maine legislature's award honoring Hodgdon Yachts as America's oldest boat builder, manifesting its changes with the changing times and technology in its 200 years of family operation.

Surely, this awesome juxtaposition was not lost on many of us readers. And, truth be told, we have one foot in each of these changes.
