Till we meet again

    Dear Editor:

We moved to Boothbay Harbor 22 years ago. We had no friends or family living here. We did what we had done everywhere we have lived — Millinocket, Pittsfield, Pittston, Gardiner, Patten and Dexter — we found the Catholic Church. Church has always been the core of our lives. Our Lady Queen of Peace Church was just what we had hoped. It is a caring, safe and loving home. We are leaving a wonderful family of extraordinary people.

We also realized very soon that the whole Boothbay Harbor region is identical to our church. Our family and friends extended rapidly. These communities definitely look after and take care of their own. The volunteers and giving people continue to amaze us.

Is this area special? Yes — it is beautiful inside and out. The saying is that once you come to Boothbay Harbor, you will be back — everybody does.

As we leave to move nearer our family in the Portland area, we want to say as they sang to us in church this past weekend — “May the Good Lord Bless & Keep You Till We Meet Again.”

    Thank you.
