Dear Editor:

The Keepers of the Burnt Island Lighthouse wish to express our most sincere thanks and appreciation to Buzz and Mark, and their ever-so-helpful crew, of the lovely Topside Inn for being hosts extraordinaire for our initial summertime fundraisers for the restoration of Burnt Island Light as it approaches its 200th birthday in 2021. They created the perfect evening with creative and tasty hors d’oeuvres and choice wines. The charm of the inn, along with its spectacular views, made for a perfect evening, all of which they donated to our cause.

Additional thanks go to Win and Lori Mitchell of Boothbay Craft Brewery for donating their specially brewed beer for Burnt Island called “Ten Lewis Ale.” The can is designed by son, Cody, and Jeff Brown, and has a history of the lighthouse on it. Another generous contributor was Ralph Smith with “piles” of superbly delicious Glidden Point Oysters (Move over Chesapeake Bay!). Oh, were they ever something to sample.

We, the Keepers, can’t thank all who came and supported us, including the very friendly guests of Topside Inn, plus Buzz, Mark, Win, Lori and Ralph.
