Letter to the Editor

Thank you public works

    Dear Editor:

The warming effect of the ocean often helps us when a winter storm comes up the coast. This wasn’t the case Nov. 2. I don’t think many of us thought that this one was going to amount to too much but, it sure did. Thankfully we didn’t get as much heavy wet snow as downeast got, but we still received enough snow and high winds to bring down trees and power lines throughout Lincoln County.

I want to thank the Boothbay Harbor Public Works crew for its efforts in clearing our streets and removing downed trees. Although temporarily short staffed, the crew of Chris Leeman, Nick Livingston, Clyde Burnham along with the help of Dale Hahn did a great job of planning for and responding to an early season storm that did tremendous damage to much of the Midcoast and Down East Maine.

At the time of writing this, it is three days later and Central Maine Power continues to restore power to over 80,000 customers that were affected. Thank you to all public safety employees who work day and night to assist and protect us.
