Thank you public works and fire department

    Dear Editor:

With Gardens Aglow and the Festival of Lights soon approaching, I wanted to take a minute to recognize and thank the Boothbay Harbor Public Works and Fire Departments for going well over and above in organizing and installing over 23,000 Christmas lights in the downtown. While continuing to get their daily workloads accomplished, these gentlemen gladly and enthusiastically have decorated the municipal office grounds, the Whale Park, the footbridge and the many of the trees on the library lawn. In addition to that, in the evenings they have also assisted many of the downtown merchants with installing lights on their buildings with the help of the fire department ladder truck.

A special thank you goes out to Fire Chief Nick Upham, Glenn Tilton, Peter Sullivan, Public Works Director Chris Leeman, Nick Livingston, Aaron Durgan and Josh Tirado for their extra effort in making sure the downtown sparkles. You guys are the best!

I also want to thank Tim McFadden for his cooperation in permitting the town to decorate the library trees and Green Tree Events for their efforts in promoting the Festival of Lights. Thank you, Stephanie Hawke, for the use of your bucket lift. It was instrumental in decorating the trees.

My counterpart and friend in Boothbay, Dan Bryer, has done a great job at spectacularly lighting up the common. Lastly I’d like to thank the downtown businesses who have worked so hard in promoting the Festival of Lights. All of your efforts in lighting up your properties are tremendously helpful in making the Festival of Lights a success!
