Dear Editor:

Souper Bowl of Caring took place on Sunday, Feb. 1 with 11 local churches participating. Members and friends brought gifts of non-perishable food and money to their places of worship. Baskets, totes and bags were filled within the walls of our beautiful spiritual meeting places, later to be delivered to The Boothbay Region Food Pantry.

It took Food Pantry volunteers hours to stock the shelves with donations. The monies received have given the pantry more buying power with Good Shepherd Food Bank, Hannaford and beyond.

Through the tremendous generosity of our community, the food pantry received 1,055 food items with a value of $2,110. In addition, there were money gifts totaling $4,989.55. A grand total of $7,099.55! A real touchdown!

Thank you to our wonderful community of churches, their leadership, members and friends. Your gifts are saving lives through nourishment to our dear neighbors facing difficult times.
