Talk on 'Baby’s First Food' April 11

Mon, 03/30/2015 - 1:30pm

Starting your baby on solid food can be fun, playful and messy! Introducing solid foods can also be confusing to some parents. When should you start? How much should you offer? What comes first?

“Baby’s First Food: How to Make It and Serve It” is a class for mothers and fathers explaining a few simple rules of thumb and milestones to keep in mind to ensure that your baby’s food is just right to grow on. This class will be offered on Saturday, April 11, 5-6 p.m., at the FARMS Community Kitchen, 323 Main Street, Damariscotta (above the Rising Tide Market).

Come sit on one of the comfortable stools around the Community Kitchen’s central island and learn how to prepare and serve healthy food for babies and for toddlers nearing their first birthday, using recipes from La Leche League cookbooks. The class will be taught by local LLL Leaders Allison Eddy-Blouin and Kate Pennington. Their internationally known organization has been providing mother-to-mother support for many decades.

Parents are welcome to bring their babies to the class. The cost of the class is $10, plus $2 for recipe ingredients. Only nine mothers and fathers can be accommodated, so reserve your space by leaving a message on the FARMS phone at 207-563-1161, or send your name and a check for $12 to FARMS, P.O. Box 421, Damariscotta, ME 04543.
