Susan M. Simeone

Susan M. Simeone of East Boothbay died June 3, 2014 at Hospice House of Androscoggin following a courageous fight against life-defeating cancer.

Born June 19, 1961 in Arlington, Mass., Susan graduated from Endicott College and spent her adult life in Maine working in Bar Harbor, Unity and Boothbay Harbor.

A highly regarded genealogist and researcher, Susan co-authored "Ordinary Yet Extraordinary" in 2001 and served as an oral historian for "Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens: A People's Garden" in 2012.

In addition to her co-author and friend, Dorothy Freeman of East Boothbay, Susan is survived by a brother, Daniel Simeone of Henderson, Nev.; aunt, Mary Kaplan of Palm Springs, Calif.; cousin, Paul Kaplan of Palm Springs, Calif.; and a wide array of friends in Michigan and Maine.

A public memorial celebrating Susan's life will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay.

Memorial contributions should be made to the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor or Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
