Super Bowl

It was a coin toss -- heads I win, tails, you lose.

Do I stay inside and nap through the pregame quagmire or go out and try to replace the massive divots I'd peeled off our property in an attempt to clear snow?

The car path from the house to the barn looked like a turf farm before the turf. I really tried to be careful but I'd lost touch with the Kubota controls -- what the bucket didn't get the back blade did! I knew it was soft under the snow and I meant to skim off just enough. The net result being large strips of sod strewn out atop the snow as far as the eye could see. The repairs will be substantial.

While attempting to navigate my “Intro to Plowing 101” refresher course, I was distracted by some tracks winding out across the unplowed tundra. I didn't realize that seals could travel so far from the water. Just kidding.

However, years ago, when the girls were much younger, we got a call from good friends over on Oak Point. They said there was a baby seal up in their yard and that I should bring a camera and the kiddos. So off we trotted and sure enough, right there in the middle of the lawn, a good distance from the water, rolling in the snow, was Andre' -- remember him? Obviously it wasn't Andre', who is long gone from his Rockport home to raiding lobster traps in the sky.

My guess is the seal in our yard was a porcupine. What's your guess? Whatever it was, it wasn't making much headway very quickly, judging from its grinding path.

Should have contacted me -- I'd have plowed an I-95 on-ramp!

The Super Bowl was far less interesting.
