Summer suppers to begin again at Edgecomb church

Tue, 05/03/2016 - 9:30am

The first summer supper of the season will be held at the Edgecomb Community Church on Saturday, May 21. Guests start arriving at 4 p.m. for the supper that starts at 5. There’s a friendly spirit as people gather, browse in the thrift shop, check out the items on the free table, pick up a book for summer reading or simply share summer experiences. There are often people from away who become friends before dessert is served. This summer there will be a total of five suppers to raise money to support local helping agencies, to assist in worldwide disaster relief efforts and to fund the church’s efforts to provide fresh water and promote water conservation locally and throughout the world.

People will gather to enjoy the homemade baked beans, casseroles, salads and desserts. They come to meet old friends and make new ones.

The remaining suppers are scheduled for Saturday, June 18, July 16,August 20 and September 17. Each supper starts at 5 p.m. with service until 6 p.m. or until the food runs out. The charge for the suppers is $8 for adults and $3 for children.

Church suppers provide not only a great meal but also a chance to be a part of the caring community in action.

The church is located at 15 Cross Point Road in Edgecomb. Take Route 27 from Route 1 toward Boothbay Harbor. Go approximately one mile to the Mason Road which bears off to the right.
