Letter to the Editor

Such a generous community

    Dear Editor:

On behalf of Friends of Thai Daughters, we would like to express our gratitude to our Boothbay region friends and neighbors who helped to make our recent Sunflower Celebration a tremendous success. The event was held in Wellesley, Massachusetts and was attended by 225 supporters from Maine and Massachusetts. We raised over $100,000 to support our fight against child trafficking thanks, in part, to the hard work and generous support from Mark Osborn and Buzz Makarewicz at the Topside Inn, Bob and Kate Horgan from Hunting Island, John and Liz Suczynski from the Boothbay Harbor Country Club, Liz Evans from the East Boothbay General Store, Kim and Pete Erskine from Mexicali Blues, Inanna - Sisters in Rhythm, John Morrison, Elsie Freeman, Douglas Gimbel, Carol and Pete Matwiczyk, Chuck and Betty Koch and FTD’s own irrepressible Julie Lamy.

We invite everyone to view our just released video, “A Way Back Home- Fighting Child Trafficking with Education, Shelter and Love,” online https://vimeo.com/171481747 or at our website www.friendsofthaidaughters.org for more information on our program.

This community continues to amaze us with its compassion. We are privileged to be a part of it.
