Dear Editor:

On Friday Nov. 3, the friends and Masonic brethren of Micheal Leighton held a fundraiser at The Watershed Tavern in Boothbay. The event was extremely successful and I would like express my gratitude to the following people.

To Win and Lori Mitchell, for opening up your hearts and your business to the Leighton family; your generous donation helped make this fundraiser the success that it was.

To the businesses and individuals who donated items for the auctions; this forum’s rules limit listing all of you nor would I want to miss one of you. Please know that your generosity was heartwarming and very much appreciated.

To all who attended from near and far and opened your hearts and your pockets to provide emotional and financial support to this family in their time of need. Both will be needed in the months to come.

To the organizers for their efforts in soliciting and collecting donations, setting up and finally running the event. I never could have done it without all your help.

Events like this illustrate the sense of community that exists here in the region and all of those involved epitomize the generous spirit that makes this such a unique place.
