Stephen C. Reny

Tue, 01/05/2016 - 2:15pm

Stephen C. “Steve” Reny, 49, died unexpectedly at his home on Jan. 3, 2016 in Boothbay.

Steve was born on March 11, 1966 to Neal Reny and Jean (Davis) Reny in Boothbay Harbor, where he went to local schools and graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 1984.

Steve worked for the family construction business starting in 1982, and it was the only job he ever needed.

A “Legend at the Race Track,” Steve raced stock cars for all of his adult life, and was a member of the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Club. He played a huge role in every division, whether taking the checker flag or lending a helping hand at the Wiscasset Speedway and many other tracks across New England. Steve played guitar and loved music. He also loved all animals, and enjoyed camping, boating and fishing, hanging out with his friends, and watching the Patriots play, and he was also one hell of a karaoke singer.

Steve’s family was of the greatest importance in his life. He loved to watch his son play basketball and to brag about his daughter, particularly that she had become such a wonderful hair stylist. He was very proud of his children.

Stephen was predeceased by his grandparents, Clifford C. and Bertha Reny, and John Rowe and Ruby (Blake) Rowe.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Reny, of Boothbay; his parents, Neal and Jean Reny of Boothbay; his daughter, Lindsay Reny of Boothbay; his son, Stephen A. Reny of Boothbay; his sister, Paula Reny Warford and her husband David of Boothbay; his niece, Sarah Perry of Boothbay; his niece, Alexandria Hall of Boothbay; his brother-in-law, Harry Hall of Boothbay Harbor; his brother-in-law Joe Hall of Boothbay Harbor; and many close friends.

A Celebration of Life for Stephen will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10 at the American Legion Hall Post #36, 25 Industrial Park Drive, Boothbay. Al Roberts will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burkes Island Farm Youth Group, 509 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, Maine 04537.

Hall’s of Boothbay has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences, light a candle for Stephen, or to share a story of pictures, visit his Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.
