St. Andrews Village welcomes new executive director

St. Andrews Village is pleased to welcome Loriman Looke as executive director. Looke brings extensive years of leadership experience to the village, including significant knowledge of senior living and the facilitation of partnerships with local businesses and healthcare providers.

Looke is currently in an administrator-in-training (AIT) role. Wendy Roberts, the current executive director, is his preceptor. Roberts plans on retiring in October, at which time Looke will assume the executive director reins. After working with Wendy and completing his AIT program, Looke will sit for both state and national exams in order to obtain his nursing home administrator license.

Looke said it was the wonderful past experiences as executive director of Parker Ridge Retirement Community in Blue Hill that drew him back into the senior living industry. At Parker Ridge, he would often come into work to find a small pile of newspaper clippings on his desk. Those newspaper clippings were from residents of the retirement community, clipped from local papers, featuring the academic or athletic exploits of Looke’s three children, who were active and known in the community.

“There is something special about working in this atmosphere,” said Looke. “In working with residents, over time you often become part of their family and they become part of yours.”

At Parker Ridge, Looke led the community through a major transition. It involved the multi-million dollar ownership restructuring of the community’s apartments, after it became clear that prospective residents of the apartments preferred to rent rather than own. Under his leadership Parker Ridge was successful in obtaining the required unanimous approval of shareholders in the community. After this structural change, occupancy steadily increased to 100 percent.

After working in other industries over the last few years, it became clear to Looke that he missed helping people and knew it was right for him to seek an opportunity to re-enter the senior living field.

Looke holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bates College in Lewiston, as well as a master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine. In addition to his senior living experience, Looke also worked for Unum in Portland, and has served as chief financial officer with private companies in Kansas City, Missouri and Trenton.

“Loriman brings the drive, passion and ability to lead the Village’s team to great potential,” said Judy McGuire, senior vice president of Home Health and Senior Living at Lincoln County Healthcare. “We are confident in his talents to build upon our mission of delivering exceptional senior living care and services.”

“It’s a privilege to work with the great team at St. Andrews Village and to make a difference in enriching the lives of residents and their families,” Looke said. “I’m honored to be part of a community whose values align with my own.”
