St. Andrews employees honored with Christmas luncheon

On Thursday, Dec. 11, St. Andrews Auxiliary members contributed their time and their great cooking skills to present a luncheon for all the employees of St. Andrews, both at the Village and at the St. Andrews Campus.

This annual event is the auxiliary’s expression of thanks and appreciation to the many people who work tirelessly to provide top-level health care to our community.

The auxiliary extends grateful thanks to everyone who supported and helped with this fun and heartwarming event.

At the Cochrane Conference Room in the Family Care Center, 80 employees from all areas of the St. Andrews Campus enjoyed rich and cheesy chicken casseroles, incredible salads and a super variety of desserts all made and donated by Auxiliary volunteers.

Earlier, the auxiliary elves had transformed the work-a-day conference room into a charming dining area with golden holiday bells on the windows, wreaths on the walls, and live greenery on the white cloth covered tables. Additional atmosphere was provided by a crackling fire place projected onto the wall and accompanied by music to fit the Christmas season.

Luncheon guests greeted at the door by Auxiliary president, Carole Zalucky, were given the opportunity to enter their names for a drawing which was held at the conclusion of the luncheon. Congratulations to Loretta Raburn who won the decorated balsam wreath made by Boothbay Region Greenhouses and to Rick Pye, who won the seashell wreath made by Audrey Kelly.

Meanwhile, at the Inn at St. Andrews Village, a similar scene was taking place. Thirty-eight employees were greeted by Carol Ostermann, auxiliary vice president, and Miriam Wade, past president, and treated to the same mouth-watering menu as their co-workers in town.

The Christmas spirit was reflected in the table decorations and holiday cheer. Two beautiful Christmas centerpieces, also from Boothbay Region Greenhouses were raffled at this event. The lucky winners were Paula Cogswell and Kelsey Prior.

The St. Andrews Auxiliary raises money each year to support our local health care system. The primary fundraising source is the thrift shop on Townsend Avenue in the little mall.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the auxiliary and having a lot of fun to boot, please consider volunteering to work at the thrift shop, at the Village or on the St. Andrews campus, or as a board committee member. Applications for auxiliary membership are available at the thrift shop.
