The twenty-six students of Southport Central School helped island residents get into the holiday spirit with music on Monday, Dec. 15.

Postponed from Dec. 9 due to a conflict and weather, the school’s annual Holiday Concert, under the direction of music teacher Scott Ogden, featured musicians and singers performing eight songs on the Southport Town Hall stage.

Five saxophonists played “Jingle Bells” and “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” followed by the recorder players performing “Oats, Peas and Barley Grow.”

Ukuleles and guitars were played by students in other songs, such as “Liza Jane,” “Oh, How lovely is the evening,” “Three Little Birds” and “Lean On Me.”

The students then led a crowd sing-along of “Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” to conclude the 35-minute concert.
