The U.S. Navy has awarded the Boothbay Harbor Shipyard a contract to repair a tugboat.

Boothbay Harbor Shipyard President Eric Graves announced Sept. 30 that a Portsmouth Naval Shipyard 45-foot tugboat arrived in Boothbay Harbor on Tuesday, Sept. 27, for repairs.

The maintenance includes work on the tug’s fuel and waters systems, props, shafts and rudder. The work also includes “blasting and painting,” according to Graves.

The maintenance is expected to take three to four months, said Graves.

The Boothbay Harbor Shipyard declined to announce the project’s cost.

“I can’t disclose that, but it’s a nice little Navy contract for us,” Graves said.
