S.H.E.D. Talk focus: Creative collaboration

Tue, 09/26/2017 - 11:00am

The September S.H.E.D. Talk @ Dusk features owners Jordan Gehman and Mali Mrozinski discussing their collaborative work and their ideas behind the Doublet S.H.E.D. – Space for Handmade Explorative Design.  The presentation takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Wiscasset’s Creamery Pier during the Wiscasset Art Walk on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Gehman and Mrozinski are the husband and wife team of Doublet Design who attribute their collaborative work style for their ever-expanding approach to garment and furniture design. Together they design and create contemporary handmade wares for home and body and continually explore the relationships between furniture, clothing, wood, and fiber.  The duo furthers their mission by hosting S.H.E.D. Talks at Dusk, a lecture series that brings artists, craftspeople, and the community together to discuss and engage with creative ideas.

Wiscasset residents Gehman and Mrozinski opened Doublet Design’s S.H.E.D., a multi-functional space that serves as a workshop and gallery, in spring of 2017, to showcase their contemporary craft and design work within their Wiscasset community.  According to Mrozinski, Doublet Design will be having a first S.H.E.D. end-of-season sale of their hand-designed and crafted furniture, art, and clothing.  The sale begins on Thursday, September 28, during the Wiscasset Art Walk and continues through Friday, 2-7 p.m., and Saturday, noon-5 p.m., when S.H.E.D. will close for the season.

Weather permitting, the S.H.E.D. Talk will be held outside, with images projected onto the wall of the workshop.  Please bring appropriate clothing and bug protection.  More information about Doublet Design can be found on www.doublet-design.com
