Shawn M. Rines

Shawn Michael Rines, 30, died suddenly on March 31, 2015 at the Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends.

Born on March 9, 1985 in Damariscotta, he was the son of William “Buck” and Cindy Rines.

A lifetime resident of Wiscasset, Shawn had a love of many activities including racing at the Wiscasset Speedway, where he grew up watching many family members compete. He also loved four-wheeling and camping, along with many other outdoor activities.

Shawn created many friendships in his lifetime, mostly due to his sense of humor and easygoing personality. He will be sadly missed by all of his friends, and by everyone who knew him.

About a year ago, Shawn met his companion and best friend, Vickie Andrews, and her two children, Gen and Wyatt. Their fortunate meeting quickly became the family that Shawn always desired.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Gordon Merry of Wiscasset, and William Rines of Alna.

He is survived by his parents, Buck and Cindy Rines of Wiscasset; a brother, Cory Rines and his companion Melissa Wallace of Wiscasset; a special nephew, John Rines of Wiscasset; his maternal grandmother, Ann Merry of Wiscasset; and his paternal grandmothers, Beverly Rines of Alna, and Dorothy Kirovac of Connecticut. Shawn is also survived and loved by his uncle, John Merry and his wife Mary Lou Gustafason, and children Josh Applebee and Jessica Crocker; uncle Tim Merry and his wife Lorie and their children, Nick and TJ Merry; and aunt Sue, uncle Edward and their daughter, Nichole.

A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held at the Wiscasset Speedway at a later date. Details of the celebration in his honor will will be announced as soon as possible.
