Sharon R. Watson

Sharon Rose Watson (Walsh), 78, of Boothbay Harbor and Gibbstown, New Jersey, died peacefully in her sleep on May 5 (Feast of the Ascension).

She was the beloved wife of Donald Robert Watson Jr. for 60 years. Sharon was the proud mother of eight children: Sharon (David) Max, Donald III, Bernadette (Robert) Scopa, Paul (Christine), Rosemary (Tom) Coleman, John (Lynne), Michael, and Jennifer (Richard) Mullen. Sharon also was the very proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her angel, grandson, Thomas Scopa.

Sharon loved spending time with her husband Don at their home in Maine, also loved the outdoors and was an avid dog-lover and cherished her Akitas, Shima and Shane. She was an accomplished musician and had a great love of books and movies. Sharon was a former elementary school teacher for Saint Cecilia's of Pennsauken, St. Peters of Merchantville, St. Rose in Haddon Heights and Veterans Memorial School in Camden; all in New Jersey. She was intensely proud of her Irish heritage and a dear friend of Monsignor Michael Doyle of Sacred Heart Parish in Camden, and the former Monsignor Richard Callahan of St. Rose of Lima, Haddon Heights and St Cecilia, Pennsauken parishes. 

Sharon was a summa cum laude graduate of Rutgers University where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in English. She was also a proud graduate of Camden Catholic High School where she played the lead role in her high school play as Mrs. Sally Adams in “Call me Madam,” which is where she met her soulmate, Don.

Sharon's visitation was on May 11 and May 12 at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, Pennsauken, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, Merchantville, New Jersey. Sharon will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Swedesboro, New Jersey.
