Seahawks competitive in 5-2 loss to Monmouth Mustangs

The Seahawks came out swinging their bats on Friday, May 25 against the Monmouth Academy Mustangs. 

Steve Reny and Cameron Crocker singled in the first inning to be driven home on a ground ball by Jacob Wilson. With a rare 2-0 lead, Cameron Crocker hurled four of his eight strikeouts before the Mustangs tied the game 2-2 in the third inning. Hunter Crocker relieved Cameron Crocker in the seventh inning. 

The game remained close until the seventh inning when the Mustangs scored twice to take the lead in their 5-2 victory. 

Mustang pitcher Nick Dovinsky pitched a nearly complete game only to be relieved with two outs in the seventh.

Monmouth is headed to the playoffs with an 11-4 record. The Seahawks will go into their final game Tuesday against Wiscasset Middle High School with a 2-13 record.

Before the game, Seahawk seniors were recognized in a traditional ceremony along the first base line.
