Seahawk spirit

    Dear Editor:

I would like to give a huge thank you to all the people who made our School Spirit Challenge such a huge success. Putting together a project like this takes enormous effort from numerous people. This was another example of why our communities and schools are such special places filled with special people. In case you missed it, WGME spent two early morning hours showcasing some extreme Seahawk spirit.

Check out their website to see the highlights: www.wgme.com/news/features/school-spirit-challenge

I wanted to take a moment to thank the following people for making this an unbelievable event.

    A huge thank you to:

    1. Everyone who sent in food and monetary donations for this great cause.
    2. Our Student Body President Karl Alamo and the many students, teachers, and community members who got up in the wee morning hours to participate.
    3. The Student Council and National Honor Society and their advisor Manon Lewis for great planning and preparation.
    4. Our superintendent, Eileen King, for coming out and supporting us as always.
    5. Lauren Brown, Barb Crocker, Donna Jordan and all the Lady Dribblers for a great performance.
    6. Katrina Clark and the Boothbay Register for great coverage throughout the entire process.
    7. Boothbay Harbor Town Manager Tom Woodin and Boothbay Selectmen Chuck Cunningham for taking the time to represent our town governments and their constituents.
    8. Chip Schwehm, Emily Higgins, Dick Morrison, Desiree Scorcia, Sherrie Hersom, Bryan Dionne, Smith Climo and Tanya Hammond for being the “cool teachers” who put on a great rendition of “Man of Constant Sorrow.”
    9. Allan Crocker, Bryan Dionne and Manon Lewis, for bringing the whole thing together.
    10. Brian Blethen, school board member, and the best Captain America ever.
    11. Lynn Welch for a beautiful homemade Seahawk Quilt.
    12. Mark Phillips and the BRES/BRHS Seahawk Symphonic Band.
    13. To anyone and everyone else that helped make this such a memorable event.

In the end we raised over $4,300 and brought in over 1,300 pounds of goods. In all this equates to over 22,000 pounds of food for the Good Shepard Food Bank and our own local food pantry.

    Thank you again to all.

    Dan Welch
