Wed, 05/20/2015 - 2:15pm

The Boothbay Sea and Science Center and Ocean Point Marina will host a Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours on Wednesday, May 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will take place at Ocean Point Marina, located at 216 Ocean Point Road in East Boothbay. For detailed directions to the marina by land or by sea, visit www.boothbayharbor.com.

Boothbay Sea and Science Center is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization for Maine and summering youth ages 5-17 whose mission is to advance sailing, boating and ocean sciences by minimizing economic and physical obstacles to develop independence, self-confidence, teamwork and volunteerism in its participants and to inspire youth to strengthen themselves and their community through the enjoyment of the sea.

This summer, BSSC will launch its integrated sea and science program that supports the Center’s vison to become a community sailing, boating and science education center that offers affordable access to the waterfront and experiential learning activities not typically provided by other regional organizations. BSSC is continuing on its path to becoming a regional learning center for marine science, maritime history, seamanship, navigation, safety at sea, meteorology and boatbuilding.  The third annual Follow Me to BSSC “freeweek” will take place from June 22-26. From Monday, June 29 until Friday, Aug. 21, BSSC's 2015 integrated sea and science program will include eight weeks of boating, sailing and marine science.

For more information about programs, registration and schedules, visit www.boothbayseaandsciencecenter.org. The support BSSC receives from the Boothbay Region and Maine communities enables youth to build self-confidence, self-reliance, responsibility and dependability along with an abiding wonder and respect for the marine ecosystem.
