An unattended Boothbay Region school bus just missed a light pole on Sherman Field but managed to destroy a sign and hit a stone memorial on Monday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. No one was hurt, according to Boothbay Harbor Police Chief Bob Hasch.

The bus was parked in front of Boothbay Region High School when the bus started rolling with no one on board. It went straight down the hill and down an embankment into the sign and stone, where it stopped.

“We’re looking to see if the accident was due to a mechanical failure or driver error,” said Hasch.

There will be more information on this accident as details are available.
