Thanks to great teamwork between two county law enforcement agencies, an alleged fugitive from justice was taken into custody without incident.

On March 15, at about 7:50 p.m., a call came in from a resident in Fayette on Chesterville Ridge Road, about a suspicious person. The homeowner went outside to talk to the person, who ran away into the wooded area behind the residence. Deputies Jeff Boudreau and Mike Sayers of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence. Also responding were Sergeant Nathan Bean and K-9 Bain from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Boudreau and Bean began a K-9 track and within an hour had Michael Gatcomb, 33, in custody.  Gatcomb had several outstanding warrants of arrest on multiple charges from Franklin, Sagadahoc, Somerset and Washington counties. He was brought to the Kennebec County correctional facility for processing and on March 16 was transported by the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
