Ruth E. Gay, 69, of High Street, Bath died June 10, 2014 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

She was born in Bath on July 12, 1944, a daughter of Newman F. and Elinor C. (Brawn) Kennerson.

She graduated from Milford High School in Milford, Mass., and on October 6, 1962 married Daniel L. Gay. She was a manager at Merribee Store in Massachusetts and moved back to Bath in 1979.

She loved all crafts, especially quilting. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, was an avid reader, and had a rapport with all animals, especially skittish strays.

In recent years, she enjoyed taking classes at the Mariner’s Compass Quilt Shop.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Gay of Bath; one son, Steven D. Gay of Bath; three daughters, Roxann E. Gardiner and her husband Robert of Damariscotta, Bonnie L. Ricker and her husband Darryl of Woolwich and Julie B. Sager and her husband Chris of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Walter Kennerson and his wife Gail of Gainesville, Fla., eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Kennerson and Ronald Kennerson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Bath.
