Rotary’s fun fundraiser

Mon, 06/05/2017 - 3:45pm

    Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Community Center, I would like to thank the Rotary Club for sponsoring the second annual Kentucky Derby Party. The party was given for our benefit and was very successful. They raised twice as much money this year as last and entertained 120 guests.

A special thank you goes out to the Rotary Club Derby Party Committee consisting of Debbie Graves, Irene Fowle, Judy deGraw, Alice Mutch and Shawn Lewin. Thanks to Pam and Tim Utley, transplanted Kentuckians, who provided the simple syrup and fresh mint to make the best mint juleps yet. Pam was spectacular leading the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home.”

A special thanks to Community Center volunteers Mary Nolon, Mary Connelly, Alice Grant, Margaret Perritt, Penny Donovan and her friend Lois, Ted Schmidt and Betty Sullivan. Additional special thanks to the people, merchants and businesses who made our silent auction a huge success: Janson’s Clothing, Sherman’s Bookstore, Boothbay Region Greenhouses, Bob Crink Photography, Gail McPhee, Robinson’s Wharf; Southport General Store, Slicks, House of Logan, Coastal Maine Popcorn, The Community Center Mahjong Group, Angel Tibbetts Ames, Mary Connelly and Alice Grant, Grover’s Hardware, Hair It Is, Seaglass Spa, Capers Catering, Atlantic Edge Lobster, Macdonald’s Studio, Boothbay Animal Hospital, Dwight Lewis, Whale’s Tail, Rich and Terri Serino, Boathouse Bistro, Lucy Cressey, Brenda Blackman and Patty Seybold. Finally, thanks to Hannaford, Hometown Convenience and East Boothbay General Store who provided hors d'oeuvres.

We have never had so much fun raising money. Thank you, thank you, Rotarians for all you do for us and the Boothbay community.
