He born April 27, 1937 the son of Richard and Beatrice (Perry) Landry. Robert was raised in Sanford where he graduated from Sanford High School, Class of 1955. He is described in his high school yearbook as "everybody's best friend."

Robert went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Nichols College and then a master’s degree in school counseling from the University of Maine. In 1958, Robert married Nancy (Sutton) of Sanford and they raised their two daughters in Sanford before Robert's work took them to Boothbay Harbor. Robert served the students at Boothbay Region High School as their guidance director for 10 years. It was during their time in the Boothbay area that Nancy took ill and died in 1981.

Many years later, Robert reconnected with his kindergarten classmate Judith (Eaton) and together they enjoyed retirement. Robert, a trained concert pianist, spent his lifetime appreciating music, especially piano jazz. He diligently followed all New England athletic teams including the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox as well as UConn's women's basketball team.

Robert was an active member of the "Wednesday Night Warriors." He enjoyed old classic and new cinema, theater and cribbage and he was most content to be near the water, whether it was the ocean or a lake. Most of all he treasured the time he spent with his family.
