Dear Editor:

I am writing to encourage my fellow residents of Senate District 13 to reelect Chris Johnson. Throughout his four years in the Maine Senate, Chris has proven himself to be a tireless advocate for a prosperous economy and a conscientious steward of Maine's environment. Whether promoting legislation for clean energy jobs, supporting local farms, or strengthening our sustainable fisheries, he has developed a deep, science-based understanding of the issues and challenges facing Maine. In his search for innovative solutions, he regularly confers with leading scientists and business leaders in order to bring fresh, cutting edge ideas back to Augusta.

He understands that the old paradigm of jobs versus the environment is a false choice; he knows that protecting Maine's environment is, in the end, the most cost efficient and healthy way to stimulate the Maine economy.

A patient listener, Chris is not a microphone-grabbing grandstander, nor a master of the issue of the day photo-op. Instead, he prefers to quietly educate himself and others, focusing on the long term, deeper underpinnings of any issue. He is doggedly tenacious in his pursuit of solutions, and has a well deserved reputation as one of the hardest working Senators in Augusta.

As he is known among his colleagues, Chris Johnson is indeed the "Pride of Lincoln County." I hope you will join me in returning this highly regarded Senator to Augusta for two more years of proud service.
