Dear Editor:

I’m not one to air my political views in public usually, but this year I’d like to ask my neighbors to support and re-elect Stephanie Hawke for our state representative. I’m a registered Democrat but I’ve always looked at both parties to decide which candidate would do the best job in each circumstance, and I think we need Stephanie Hawke to represent us in Augusta another two years.

I have a small construction business in Boothbay Harbor and have been on the school board of trustees for 12 years. I know that Stephanie and I share the same views and expectations. She is a hard worker. She runs a car dealership, Hawke Motors, which she owns with her husband, Andy, in Boothbay Harbor. And she serves on the Boothbay/Boothbay Harbor School Committee.

Stephanie is a hands-on type of person who is always the first to volunteer to help wherever and whenever help is needed. Her generosity is unbelievable, opening up her shop or home for innumerable charitable events. Whether it be a pie sale for Project Graduation at Thanksgiving, multiple car washes throughout the year, or hauling out the grilles and having a cookout to raise money for someone needing help with enormous medical bills … Stephanie is always there!

All of this and still able to raise a great family; I don’t know where she gets all her energy.

I’ll be voting for Stephanie Hawke on Tuesday, Nov. 8, and I really hope she can count on your vote as well.
