Dear Editor:

As the fireworks begin for this celebratory weekend, please keep in mind your neighbors with horses, dogs, or any animal that may not understand the nature of these explosions.

Most animal owners just ask that you inform them of your plans and time so they can make arrangements to keep their beloved animal friends safe.

Unfortunately we have no way of telling our animals what fireworks are all about, and the sights and sounds are dangerously unnerving for them. But with timely information and communications we can create a safer environment to make our pets more comfortable.

Thank you for your consideration for those animals we love and call family members.
