Dear Editor:

I’ve never experienced a dangerous moment near the monument, but one person’s experience, in any direction, proves nothing.

But I’d like Ms. Barter (Letters, Sept. 29) to know that it isn’t that one is against a roundabout in itself, but against this one, which will make things more dangerous, more intrusive, more expensive. If Boothbay’s citizens had ever been asked for suggestions or thoughts, something better could have been proposed, such as Frank Helman’s suggestion a few weeks ago. That one may not (yet) be perfect, but it’s a start to get us, the taxpayers, thinking … instead of just being told “this way or the highway."
