Dear Editor:

I must say that Mr. York Fischer’s "Two rhetorical questions" (Letters, Jan. 22) seem, to me, rather silly. As though we have armed bands of intruders roaming around at 3 a.m. breaking into our houses.

I really am not sure that the issue with the proliferation of firearms is defense, so much as that gun owners simply like to play with them. Which is OK with me. Go ahead and play with them. I would, however, prefer to keep guns away from domestic abusers, people who are disturbed and children. These are scenarios which seem to have reached epidemic proportions in this country, not 3 a.m. intrusions.
