    Dear Editor:

Last week's Editorial page was especially interesting; I refer to the editorial, “We are blessed,” and the letters, "Is it legal to be black in this country or not?" and "Being pro-life."

My wife and I feel very lucky to spend 3-4 months in our Sprucewold log home in Boothbay Harbor and the rest of the year in Los Alamos, New Mexico, high in the mountains (7000').

Jarryl Larson's letter on the status of African-American is right on. Nehring's letter on the difference between anti-abortion and pro-life is an especially perceptive viewpoint. I like his sentence: "Passing anti-abortion laws is a cheap and easy path to self righteous hypocrisy."

My view is that if you are against abortion, don't have one, but stop trying to force your religion down my throat.
