    Dear Editor:

In response to Fred Nehring’s letter (Allāhu Akbar, Aug. 28), let’s set the record straight. Allāhu Akbar is a religious exclamation perverted by radical Islamic terrorists to somehow lend credence to their hatred. In their sick and twisted minds, it justifies the wanton murder and destruction done in the name of their god.

The “from my cold dead hands” quote is not meant to justify anything. It has been used to illustrate that those of us that do truly support the Second Amendment would fight for it if need arises. Fred would have your readers believe that it is the catchphrase of gang bangers, thugs and dope heads. What it is, is the rallying cry for those of us that object to the ever increasing usurpation of those rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Thanks to Mr. Nehring and his fellow gun grabbers for comparing lawful American firearm enthusiasts to murdering Islamic terrorists. Once again if you can’t win your argument on its own merits then call your opponent names.

Stop claiming to support the Second Amendment Mr. Nehring. We all know that you do not, even the “well regulated” part. It may interest everyone to know that in the days of our founders the word regulated meant “practiced” or “trained.” The framers of our Constitution meant have a “well practiced” citizenry to defend our God given rights from anyone who would usurp them. Mr. Nehring has tried to convince you that it means “restricted.” Twenty-two thousand gun laws in this country “restricting” American’s individual right to bear arms isn’t enough for gun grabbers like him. Just one more is what they always want.

Mr. Nehring, here is another phrase adopted by firearms enthusiasts that you might want to pay attention to. Molon Labbe.
