    Dear Editor:

Saturday, July 25, was a cool day for the over 200 participants in the sixth annual Lobster Roll 5k. All proceeds will be going toward the construction of a community track and athletic field. Many thanks to all the participants who came out to get some exercise and support this effort.

Thanks to the following businesses and individuals for sponsoring this year’s race: Lincoln Medical Partners, Southport Island Marine, Boothbay Region Education Association, Brown Bros., Colby & Gale, The First, EA Giles & Son, Glidden Point Oyster Company, Bath Savings Institution, Kennebec Equipment, J. Edward Knight & Company, Mid-Maine Restoration Inc., and Tidewater Construction.

Thank you to the following businesses who donated raffle items or assisted in getting equipment, supplies, water, and food: Robinson’s Wharf, Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Gimbel & Sons Country Store, Pier One Pizza, Hannaford, Spruce Point Inn, Brown’s Wharf Inn, Tidewater Construction, and Road I.D.

Thanks to Lt. Rand Maker for arranging the use of the Lincoln County digital sign. Thank you to officers Larry Brown, Pat Higgins, Tom Chryplewicz, Scott Mercier, Julien Hauser, traffic officer Jim Powers, and the 30-plus community members who directed runners and motorist to help ensure a safe race.

Thank you to all of the adult volunteers and youth (Liam Conlin, Owen Dionne, Joey Paollilo, Loren Genrich, Elizabeth DiGuilian, Tali Gosselin and Olivia Paolillo) who worked registration, course set-up, clean-up and sold T-shirts. Thank you to David Benner and crew for helping get tables, chairs, and cones. Thanks to Jonne Trees for videotaping the event and Art Mayers for reporting for the Boothbay Register. And last but not least, thank you to the motorists who practiced patience as participants traveled the course. It was a successful event and would not have been possible without all of our volunteers and community support.
