The CSD School Committee discussed the search for a new superintendent Jan. 10.

The committee elected members Bruce MacDonald and Peggy Splaine as representative and alternate representative, respectively, to the AOS 98 Superintendent Search Committee.

Committee chair Larry Colcord announced a community forum on the character and qualities the public wishes to see in a new superintendent will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the Boothbay Region Elementary School gymnasium.

Science teacher Emily Higgins presented the Boothbay Region High School gifted and talented program she will be overseeing. Also, science teacher Christopher Liberti and two students from the robotics class gave demonstrations on what students have been learning through the robotics program.

“These two programs are just a sampling of the great work that is being done throughout our school system,” said Colcord. “The enthusiasm of our teachers and the students is something that we as a community should be very proud of.”

The committee meets next at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24.
