Priscilla Stewart Talley died peacefully in her sleep at Dogwood Terrace in Richmond, Va. on March 2, 2014.

Priscilla (Pris), the daughter of Arthur David and Gertrude Terhune Stewart, was born on March 25, 1920 in Dorchester, Mass. She grew up in Ridgewood, N.J. and graduated from Syracuse University in 1942. After graduation, she worked with the Red Cross from 1944-1946, serving in Hollandia, Manila and Tokyo. She returned to Syracuse University where she worked for the dean of women and met Dyer Stuck Talley. They were married September 26, 1947.

Priscilla supported and was involved in a variety of organizations. The two that were close and dear to her heart were The P.E.O. Foundation where she was a member for over 50 years, and the fraternity Kappa Alpha Theta, where she was recently recognized for 75 years of membership.

Priscilla spent 90 summers at the family cottage on the coast of Maine which her grandparents built at Newagen in 1917 on the island of Southport. Twenty of those years she and Dyer enjoyed in retirement. This is where a celebration of her life will take place on the rocks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on August 10, 2014.

Survivors include: Priscilla’s husband of 66 years, Dyer Talley; three children, David Talley (Bente Kjos) of Tenants Harbor, Antoinette (Toni) Halstead (Eric Halstead) of Goochland, Va., and Michele Talley (John Wood) of Moseley, Va.; two granddaughters, Lesley Buttars (Dustin) of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Haley Lillibridge (Mathew) of Eldersburg, Md.; and two great-grandsons, Myles Buttars and Jacob Lillibridge.

A private memorial service will be held March 23 at the home of Ric and Toni Halstead.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name to The P.E.O. Foundation, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50312 or online at www.donationspeointernational.org or to a charity/organization of one’s choice.
