Priscilla “Pat” Ruth Frazer died peacefully at Maine Medical Center on April 10, 2014.

Pat was born on March 9, 1928 in Medford, Mass., to Harold Curtis Wells and Ruth McKay Wells. She grew up in Arlington, Mass., and graduated from high school at the tender age of 16. Her first job was working at Jordan Marsh department store in Boston, Mass. She went on to work for Judge Murray Gould as a legal assistant and later at two hotels in the Lexington, Mass., area.

One of Pat's greatest accomplishments was being the owner and operating The Groton Inn in Groton, Mass., with her husband, Bob, from 1967 to 1976. It was the oldest running inn building in America dating back to 1673, and through Pat’s hard work it was able to be put on the National Register of Historic Places. 

Pat moved to Maine in 1976 and quickly became part of the community. At one time she was director of the chamber of commerce and in her later years worked at the chamber desk, greeting tourists and sharing her love of the area. She worked for Attorney Chip Griffin in Boothbay Harbor during the early years of his practice and they became good friends. Over the years she worked at some of the hotels in the area. She was also one of the founders of the Boothbay Civic Association and recently worked hard to raise money for a television show promoting the area.

Pat was always known as a dedicated and hard worker. She held very strong family values that she passed on to her children, as well as teaching them about unconditional love. That’s what she shared with everyone she knew. Her family looked up to her and remembers her as a strong, determined, sometimes tenacious lady. She was intelligent, extremely loyal, enjoyed meeting new people and cared deeply for the friends she had.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert N. Frazer of Boothbay; sons, Charlie Bamberg of East Boothbay and Eric Bamberg of Port Lucie, Fla.; daughters, Marcia Buscemi of Greenville, N.H., Laurie Gibson, of Hollis, N.H., and Melissa Hickman of Philadelphia, Tenn.; stepchildren, Linda Tracy of Haskell, Okla., Jim Frazer, of Pepperell, Mass., Cheryl Frazer-Leriche of Shirley, Mass., Betsy Nessmith of Boothbay Harbor, Jeff Frazer of Wiscasset, Laurie Frazer of Northampton, Mass., and Bonnie Bennett of Cheshire, Conn.; brother, Harold C. Wells and his wife Beryl of Boca Grande, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. Pat also leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, April 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Simmons, Harrington & Hall, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at Simmons, Harrington & Hall, Boothbay. Immediately following the service there will be a Service of Final Resting at the Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay.
