Power outage box lunches

Sun, 11/19/2017 - 8:45am

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Rebuilding Together Lincoln County, I would like to take this opportunity to once again say what a wonderful community we live in and how thankful and grateful we are to the generous people and businesses in it.

While the wind and rain pounded our peninsula in the early morning hours of Oct. 30 and knocked power out for days to over 2,000 residents, many people in our community joined forces donating time, energy, transportation and resources to put together over 600 box lunches, deliver them to folks in their homes to make their day a little brighter. We would like to thank Robinson’s Wharf and Rachel Leeman, Hannaford, Melissa Neel and Boothbay Harbor Country Club, Stephanie Hawke for coordinating with Rebuilding Together.

A special thanks to the anonymous lady who graciously paid the bill for our second food and delivery pickup at Hannaford, to the many, many volunteers, and to each and every one of you who provided assistance in any way during this dismal time.

We thank you all once again for your generosity, caring and compassion; one more reason we are glad to call the Boothbay peninsula home.

Laura C. Blake
