    Dear Editor:

I think it’s really sad that someone has to put full page ads on every section of the paper to instruct voters on how to vote. It’s as if we can’t read, have never been to a meeting, or aren’t bright enough to understand the articles.

We are told over and over again that our tax money will not be used. Our TIF money is tax money to Boothbay; it just didn’t fall out of the sky. That TIF money can be used for anything within the Route 27 corridor. It can be used to put water and sewer up to the Industrial Park, which our town has been talking about for at least 20 years, and I’m sure for other purposes.

Everyone talks about all the accidents that have happened around the monument. I have driven that section of road everyday since it was constructed and have never seen one. We were told how safe the roundabout is going to be but I heard of a roundabout in Gorham that had a large truck roll over last month, and I understand the same thing happened last year. I know of a town in New Jersey that is taking out four roundabouts because of all the accidents. The roundabout is not an end all cure all for accidents.

Just remember, this is happening in Boothbay with Boothbay’s TIF money, not Southport’s or Boothbay Harbor’s.

Again, please get out and vote.

    Pam Reed
