Philomena “Fay” DiMascio, 95 of Boothbay died Jan. 19, 2016 at the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor.

Born Philomena Gertrude Ferraro in Schenectady, New York, on Nov. 13, 1920, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Helen (Policastro) Ferraro.

Fay graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and worked for the General Electric Company and the Carl Company, both in Schenectady.

Fay moved to Boothbay 17 years ago to live near her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, the Coastal Club and the Boothbay Seniors.

Fay was the oldest of 12 children and was like a second mother to all of them. As a young girl, she lived in New York City for a few years during the Great Depression. She enjoyed reading novels and sharing events with her family and close friends. She was a quiet but sincere person who loved being with her family.

Fay was predeceased by her husband, Silvio A. DiMascio; her sisters, Concetta (Tina) Kmonk and Marion Marotto; and her brothers, Leonard and Arthur Ferraro.

Fay is survived by her son, Paul J. DiMascio, Ph.D. and his wife, Mary DiMascio; her sister, Bonita Friello of Florida; and her brothers, Louis Ferraro, John Ferraro, Nicholas Ferraro, and Anthony Ferraro, all of New York, and brother, Joseph Ferraro of Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Freeport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village for their compassion and kindness, as well as Sueanne from Hospice and Dr. Nancy Oliphant, M.D.

Hall’s of Boothbay has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences, light a candle for Fay, or to share a story or pictures, visit her Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.
