Page Brown gets 1000th point, Lady Seahawks win

Thu, 12/14/2017 - 8:15pm

A 10-foot shot from the lane was good and Page Brown became only the third female Boothbay Region High School basketball player to score 1,000 points in a career. The milestone basket was scored with just 21 seconds left in the third quarter in the Seahawks’ 65-40 win at Mt. Abram tonight. Brown, a senior, needed 13 points to reach the milestone coming into the game. Brown joins Melissa Hodgdon and Katie Sibley as BRHS’s only female basketball players to score 1000 points.

After the ball bounced off the rim three times and fell through the hoop, she was given hugs by her teammates and the game stopped so she could be honored. Her parents, Ted and Lauren Brown, and her sister Kylie, a member of the Lady Seahawks, joined her on the court, as did her coach, Brian Blethen, during the brief announcement and ceremony.

Brown will be honored again on Saturday, Dec. 16 at BRHS before the home game against Lisbon, which is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
